Alphabetype -Day 1

Some inital ideas when I was brain storming; thinking about particular words perhaps the word it's self would represent that particular object.
When I was looking back to previous fonts for the alphabet that I could inspire me  to think about more ideas for the concept of the aphabet.
I preferred the symbolism used in the second photo on the left hand side of the image,as in my option it is easier to read and locate what letter the symbol is representing.

I thought that previous work I created helped me a lot with thinking about more creative designs and layouts for this theme.

Data translate - Day 3

These pages shows the different types of designs from henna inspiration, I've also used the research of the servays into these designs to relate the design back to the brief.

I have also incorpreated the work of Stefanie Posavec among the first research I found depict that traditional data translation are mainly circular designs.

Overall I thought the final outcome of this project was sucsesful as I used all the relivent information to create these designs perhaps one improvement I could consider; if I had more time to develop my work I could adapt the final design onto a different surface like skin using henna to draw the pattern, it would bring the design back to the theme even more as tattoos what to be created on skin.
The lambs above was the last development I created but I felt that the origanal design I made (using henna on the paper) turned out better as it had more texture (grainly) and related better the the theme further more it brought more feeling within the image as browns, red and oranges links to pain like burning and blood  this is directly elated to tattoos as tattoo artists use needles to translate the image onto a particular part of a persons body.

Data Translate - Day 2

I have researched the history of henna, (plant) this has led me to use the shape from the henna plant in further developed pattern design.

I tried to use the centrists of 24% of people have a tattoo 24 connects to 24 hours in a day, also is double of the perfect number 12 therefore symbolises harmonious equilibrium. The star represents the 17%; balance and as a star of love peace and promise.

I think these first developments relate back to the brief excellently as the pattern itself links back to the certistics I now perhaps need to think about differs patterns of portraying these different certistics.

Physical data

I thought about how to use information and data within a illustration, and how data translate is Based on circles this led me to think about the things I am interested in, tattooing was my first thought I researched so certistics associated with tattooing e.g. 17% of people regret having a tattoo, 24% of people aged 16-50 have at least one tattoo. After researching this it then led me to think about the certistics 17% combining this with henna designs as henna is semi perminant and reflects what that percent of people would of liked for their tattoos to fade away.
Instead of using any random pattern from henna designs I need to research the origanal history of henna, the numbers that I use in the certistics and perhaps dream catchers as the designs I experimented with remind me of dream catchers.

Wayfinding&Mapping Day 3

This design is also based on Alice in Wonderland, I have used symbols that link to the Alice in Wonderland story, I have displayed them so that there arranged to create the shape of Alice's face.

These images show another idea I had for Alice in Wonderland, this design I have chosen particular sence within the story by cut them into the shape of Alice's face, I have layed them into the order of the story making them change in size as in the story alice gets smalls as she eats and drinks.

These are the layers I've used for this design.

This developed idea in my opinion works the best as it is still the same design but I have changed the effect of it by making it the lines elumious and fade into one another, this effect works well as Alice's experience was weird and confusing to work out.

After everyone was satisfied with their outcomes we displayed them h the floor to see how everyone interpred the theme. From others work I felt that I could of used more media perhaps making my design 3D to make it stand out more.

Wayfinding&Mapping Day 2

(From Teefury.com)

The image is from tee fury.com, and was the influence for my design. I used the concept of using a tree as likewise to the image the tree in Alice in Wonderland is important to the story. The Cheshire Cat was appropriate to use for the outline of the tree as I thought the other characters in the story didn't look right, over more the Cheshire Cat was the Main cause of Alice seeing different places in Wonderland.

I thought of other ways of depicting the journey that Alice faces. I thought about the actual shapes of the playing cards and how they would fit in a map. The clubs looked appropriate as they remind me of trees I then wrote the names of places that Alice show within Wonderland. In my opinion even after I used programs on the computer I still feel that the map didn't come out like I thought it would perhaps I need to use a range of different colours instead of the mudane colours of a tree and it's surroundings as Alice in Wonderland wasn't mundane.

Wayfinding&Mapping Day 1

6th January

This is a quick idea to show a way of mapping using basic lines to depicts the journey.

I have taken this origanal idea and used the story 'The Hairy Toe' to use for a map. In my opinion this idea was difficult to translate as I couldn't think of a great way to display it. This image is a rough design showing he foot prints from the old lady and the monster, the colours e.g. Yellow, light blue and dark blue reflect what time of the day the characters were moving.

This design is basics on the places I've been throughout my life. I've traveled to Berlin, America (San Francisco), I've also been places in on London such as the London Eye and The O2 to see concerts.
I have used symbols that depict the place and arranged them in a particular order. Theses particular symbols spell out my name, I have used the O2 and The London Eye to spell an 'R';The London Eye on its own to spell out the 'O'', I have used the 'S' in the San Francisco logo, the 'I' depicted in the Golden Gate Bridge and lastly the 'E' reflected in the bear symbol for Berlin.
This image displays two pieces of information using my name to show that this map is about me and where I have been in my life. In my opinion I felt like this was the best out come of the day as it is t what it appears.
